I fly Virgin any time I can. They routinely the cheapest flight up and down the west coast and I love the experience for all the reasons you mentioned.
Bridget and I had a great experince flying Virgin: while we were waiting to bard the attended behind the desk was asking trivia questions and whatnot, giving away drink coupons and bonuses. They were asking things like “what are you thankful for” ~ instead of sitting around bored we were interacting and having fun…
imagine that!!
I haven’t had the opportunity to fly Virgin yet, but I’d like to because I’ve only heard positive reviews.
I was surprised, though, to learn that they don’t allow miles donation through their frequent flyer program. Given that Virgin is a Richard Branson enterprise and he’s pretty heavily involved in philanthropic ventures, I’d like to know a bit more about their social responsibility policies.
I have nothing but good and interesting things about Virgin Airlines and would love to fly with them. As for those Travelzoo deals, I LOVE them! You might also want to look into the TripAdvisor and Kayak weekly deals. I also have the Southwest DING! deals, which pop up occasionally. Out of L.A., things are super cheap.
Those lights look really pretty – they weren’t harsh at all?
Virgin sounds pretty awesome, I wish they’d come to Canada and offer more of a competition for our airfares. Next tiem I have to take an in US flight, I’ll considering booking them.
I fly delta regularly and I have yet to have WIfi use available. Just flew MSP to SFO. Going back on Sunday. Checked my Reservation. No Wifi. Researched some, and found out Delta has no plans on putting Wifi in the smaller ariplanes and only on selected transcon flights for now.
for some reason my blog won’t let me reply individually, soooo…
@joshywashington – Virgin rocks for west coast flights, I’m totally sold!
@Julie – that would be interesting to look into… I’m curious
@Mary Jo – I thought there was another one, but I couldn’t remember which one – do you know more about it?
@JoAnna – I’ve been using Kayak, I think Travelzoo is better for finding quick ticket deals
@Alouise – they turn the lights off during the flight, it’s just purple when you get on the plane
I’ve never flown with Virgin but always wanted too, ever since a kid, on my first (and second and third…) family trip to Florida (yeah my mum was obsessed with the place) when I found out they had SNES’s built into the back of every seat. I mean seriously, why did you book us in with Brittania mother when I could had been playing freaking Mario 30k feet over the sea on the way there *sigh*
Haven’t flown Virgin yet but definitely want to at some point from everything I’ve heard about them.
Oh, and almost all the major US airlines offer free wifi on select flights. I think all the airlines are using the same service company: GoGo InFlight. I had a free coupon for a trial that I used back in November last year on American Airlines. It was actually a pretty sweet deal. And I got a second free coupon from Delta for the same deal.

Delta has offered wi-fi on all its domestic flights for close to a year now.

@Rob – they still have SNES games!
@Adam – thanks for the tip, I’ve never heard of GoGo Inflight!
